Park & Recreation teams up with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, to conduct a thorough litter cleanup of Eastover Park, Briar Creek Greenway and the stream, in celebration of EARTH DAY! You can choose to work along the Greenway and in the Park, or to focus on cleaning up the stream itself.
PARKING: Use the listed address for GPS - 2730 Randolph Road, 28207 - After entering the driveway (shared with the Mint Museum), immediately turn left into the lot, and park at the end close to the Museum for easy access to the Creek. Look for Park & Recreation staff!
THANK YOU for choosing to Volunteer with Park & Recreation! Below are a few tips and reminders for a SAFE & PRODUCTIVE Volunteer experience:
- Volunteers should be at least 10 years old; anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/adult.
- Wear long pants for protection from scratches.
- Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes – REQUIRED, NO sandals or flip-flops. Wear OLDER shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, wet or muddy. *If you plan to Volunteer by cleaning the STREAM, waterproof boots or water shoes are best.
- Wear heavy-duty work gloves – bring your own gloves for health and safety.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen for protection from sun exposure; and your preferred bug spray, if needed.
- Bring your own water in a large, refillable water bottle; to stay hydrated, avoid the need to refill, and to protect the environment from single-use plastic bottles. A water cooler for refilling will be available.
