WE NEED YOU! SIGN UP TODAY...
Park & Recreation teams up with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, to conduct a thorough litter cleanup of McAlpine Creek Park/Greenway and McAlpine Creek in celebration of CREEK WEEK! You can choose to work along the Greenway and in the Park, or to focus on cleaning up the stream itself.
PARKING: Use the listed address for GPS - 8711 Monroe Road, 28212 - After entering the Park, turn into the first/front lot to your right; park as close as possible to the Greenway entrance at the far "back" corner. Look for Park & Recreation staff!
THANK YOU for choosing to Volunteer with Park & Recreation! Below are a few tips and reminders for a SAFE & PRODUCTIVE Volunteer experience:
- Volunteers should be at least 10 years old; anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/adult.
- Wear long pants for protection from scratches.
- Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes – REQUIRED, NO sandals or flip-flops. Wear OLDER shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, wet or muddy. *If you plan to Volunteer by cleaning the STREAM, waterproof boots or water shoes are best.
- Wear heavy-duty work gloves – bring your own gloves for health and safety.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen for protection from sun exposure; and your preferred bug spray, if needed.
- Bring your own water in a large, refillable water bottle; to stay hydrated, avoid the need to refill, and to protect the environment from single-use plastic bottles. A water cooler for refilling will be available.
