JOIN US TO CELEBRATE "CREEK WEEK" 2023! Sign up today to help keep your favorite park or greenway clean and healthy by picking up litter! A great way to spend an hour AT LUNCHTIME by getting outdoors and helping in your community.
On this date we will partner with CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG STORM WATER SERVICES to conduct a cleanup of the Long Creek and/or Dixon Branch streams; as well as picking up litter along the Greenway.
PARKING will be available in the lot behind the McDonald's and other shops along W.T. Harris Blvd - located at 9414 Northlake W Drive, 28216. Watch for signs!
Volunteers should plan to bring their own gloves and water supply, and dress appropriately for the weather. Extra gloves will be available; and litter pickers and trash bags are provided.
- Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes - REQUIRED! If you plan to participate in the STREAM cleanup, some waders will be available - or plan to wear waterproof boots.
- Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult!
- Each Volunteer must sign up individually in order to acknowledge their review of and agreement with the Volunteer Waiver/Acknowledgement of Risk and Safety Guidelines - READ and click to acknowledge in your response. An adult must acknowledge for anyone under the age of 18.
If you have questions, or if you have a group who would like to help on a different day, please contact the Park & Recreation Volunteer Coordinator at Karen.Howard@MeckNC.gov or 980-314-1046 (office).
