Come and help out during this special Volunteer Workday to help REOPEN the Reid Park Community Garden! We have a lot to accomplish, so bring your work gloves and plenty of energy! Tools and materials will be provided. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old for this project.
Planned Tasks:
- Remove weeds and leaves from the site
- Install and secure landscape fabric along the walkways
- Spread mulch over the landscape fabric
- Fill raised beds
- Mulch unused beds
- Spread any excess mulch around the perimeter of the property
PARKING will be along the street, at the address listed here - please park legally on one side of the street, without blocking any driveways.
A few reminders for a SAFE and productive project:
- Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or muddy - REQUIRED, no Crocs, sandals or flip-flops!
- Bring your own work gloves if you have them - extras will be available.
- Wear a hat and sunscreen; and bring your preferred bug repellent.
- Bring a large, refillable water bottle - to stay hydrated and avoid single-use plastic bottles. A water cooler will be on-hand for refilling.
- Note that there are no restrooms at this location - facilities may be available at Amay James Recreation Center, a short walk away.
