Opportunities From: Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation

Volunteer: NEW DATE! COMMUNITY CLEANUP at Reedy Creek Park - September 12, 2026

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DATE FOR THIS EVENT - Saturday, September 12th!

ALL ARE WELCOME to join our friends from the Travis Manion Foundation as we clean up Reedy Creek Park to wrap up a busy summer! Come and discover TMF's mission to "Empower Veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations" - and help out in your community by picking up litter and limbs throughout the park and on the pathways.

PARKING: After entering the Park from Rocky River Road, continue past the dog park area to the first driveway to the LEFT, following signs to the Recycling Center - park in this lot as space allows. Carpooling is always encouraged!

THANK YOU for choosing to Volunteer with Park & Recreation! Below are a few tips and reminders for a SAFE & PRODUCTIVE Volunteer experience:

Wear long pants for protection from scratches and/or poison ivy. Leggings or light-weight athletic pants are fine! Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes – REQUIRED, NO sandals, Crocs or flip-flops. Wear OLDER shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, wet or muddy. Wear heavy-duty work gloves – bring your own gloves if you have them; extras will be available. Wear a hat and sunscreen for protection from sun exposure, and your preferred bug spray. Bring your own water in a large, refillable water bottle (in a backpack, if possible), to stay hydrated, avoid the need to refill, and to protect the environment from single-use plastic bottles. A water cooler for refilling will be available.

QUESTIONS? Contact the Volunteer Coordinator: Karen.Howard@MeckNC.gov or 980-314-1046
