Opportunities From: Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation

West Charlotte Recreation Center is partnering with AARP to host a community Easter Egg Hunt and free non-perishable food giveaway! Volunteers will help to hide and distribute plastic eggs outside of the Recreation Center building; and assist with foot traffic during the event. Please wear comfortable clothing (spring colors are encouraged!) and closed-toe shoes are required. 

EVENT: 10am-2pm - VOLUNTEERS are needed from 9:30am to 2pm. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Kick off the SPRING season of BINGO! Programs for Seniors at the Northern Regional Recreation & Senior Center are always a big hit, and we LOVE having Volunteer help! Volunteers should be at least 16 years old - please dress in comfortable clothing (no tank tops, please) and wear closed-toe shoes.

BINGO Volunteers will assist with calling numbers and/or checking winning cards.

JOIN US FOR A CELEBRATION OF EARTH DAY, as we beautify the grounds at the Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center! 

Volunteers will help with mulching trees and other areas, pulling weeds, planting flowers/plants if needed, and general cleanup. Bring your work gloves and be ready to GET DIRTY! Extra gloves, water and snacks will be provided.

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old for this project.  Please wear long pants - closed-toe shoes are REQUIRED!

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Swim League is a limited-competitive swim program ideal for individuals ages 6-17. Swimmers work on stroke techniques throughout the practices and compete in two swim meets. Each swim meet, children will have the opportunity to show off their strokes and speed in 2-3 different events. Children compete in designated age groups.

VOLUNTEERS will be utilized as swim event timers (start/stop time once kids swim length and touch the wall) and/or assisting kids to line-up for next swim event in order of swim lane. Volunteers will be around pool deck and wet swimmers, please wear clothes that may get splashed. Swim meets take place on 2 dates - You may sign up for either date/shift or for both! Volunteers arrive at 9:30am; events take place 10:00am-1:00pm.

Volunteer assistants will NOT be in the water - No swimming required. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Get your outfits and dancing shoes ready and let’s rewind back to the 1970s! A night of dancing, fun, and memories. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up of final decorations; serving food and beverages, socializing with seniors; and help with clean-up after the event. Feel free to wear 1970s style/themed clothing!

Event time: 5:30-7:30pm - Volunteers report for set-up at 4:00pm and stay for cleanup until 8:30pm or when finished. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old for this event.

Jump on over to the Northern Regional Recreation Center to celebrate our 4th Anniversary at our Big Jump Event! We will have the field full of inflatables, temporary tattoos, face painters & balloon artists. There will be free Italian Ice for kids and popcorn for everyone. This event runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm; and is rain or shine as it will be held in the gym in the event of inclement weather.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help during 2 shifts - you may sign up for either shift, or for BOTH:

Early Shift: 7:00am-11:00am - Set-up and open event; help with customer lines, water/popcorn distributionLate Shift: 10:00am-2:00pm - Assist during event: customer lines, water/popcorn, and cleanup

You must be at least 16 years old to Volunteer for this event - Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
