The Western NC Braille Challenge is coming to Charlotte! Created by the Braille Institute of America, the Braille Challenge is held to motivate students to practice and hone their braille literacy skills, which are essential to academic and employment success. It is open to students in grades 1-12 and is free for participants and their families. Winners of the regional Challenge will have the opportunity to complete nationally in California! Refreshments and lunch are provided for everyone, including volunteers. There will also be informational sessions with speakers on a variety of Blind/VI topics.
VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with general tasks during the event, including registration/check-in, setting up lunch, acting as human guides for participants if needed, etc. You may register for either shift, or for both. You MUST be at least 18 years old to help with this event.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER AS AN EVENT *PROCTOR ASSISTANT* - Braille knowledge is very helpful, but not required. Please contact Natasha Reese at the email or phone below for additional information!
