WANTED: Invasive plant ELAEAGNUS a.k.a. Autumn olive
REWARD: Protection of Stevens Creek Nature Preserve's native species and natural communities!
Start the season of appreciation by giving back and enhancing habitat at Stevens Creek Preserve! We'll focus our efforts on cutting Autumn Olive, a small non-native shrub that is pervasive throughout the Preserve. VOLUNTEERS will be using "loppers" to cut down plants - instructions will be given!
- Dress appropriately to be working outdoors for 2 hours; closed-toe shoes are required! Please bring your own work gloves - extras will be available. (Face coverings are optional - please use your best judgment and respect others' space)
- Please bring a refillable water bottle and sunscreen.
- Volunteers 10 years old and up are welcome - Anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/adult at all times.
- This is a family-friendly event and can count towards required (school) service hours!
