Work alongside the Lincoln Heights Gardeners for two hours of pulling weeds, mulching, bed preparation and PLANTING. All tools and supplies will be provided! A cooler of cold water will be provided, and we will have a few packets of seeds to share! Below are some additional instructions for a safe and productive Volunteer project day: Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (REQUIRED!) for safety! Wear old clothes/shoes that can get muddy or dirty. Bring your own gardening gloves, if you have them - extra gloves will be available. Volunteer: A WALK IN THE PARK XL at Grayson Park/Naomi Drenan Rec Center - April 28, 2026Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation has been renovating and improving Naomi Drenan Recreation Center as well as completing improvements to the surrounding Grayson Park and Grayson Skatepark. Naomi Drenan Recreation Center is an existing 13,265 square foot recreation center. The Center has a gymnasium, multipurpose rooms, and kitchen. Renovations have included improvements to the building systems, main entry lobby, restrooms/lockers, new multi-purpose room and offices. Now that renovations to the Recreation Center are almost complete, a grand re-opening is scheduled for April 30 - and we need VOLUNTEERS to help with an EXTREME CLEANUP to get the Park grounds ready! Volunteers will complete tasks that may include limb and brush cutting and removal, "heavy" trash and debris cleanup, mulching, etc. *Note the extended time on this date - 10am-12:00!
