Opportunities From: Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation

Volunteer: LATE FALL + WINTERIZING Community Garden Workday - NOV 23, 2025

Join us and learn how to put the Garden to bed for the winter! We need your help cutting some plants back and leaving others (learn why!); storing hoses and sharpening tools. Gardening in Charlotte can be year-round, but the period between mid-December and mid-February is a time of rest, even for the cold-hardy greens that may over-winter and provide harvests next season. Care now means we will have a smooth start in the early spring with tools all sharpened and beds ready to dig into!

We will provide a cooler of cold water. Please bring a water bottle, and work/garden gloves if you have them. *Anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/adult!
Wear long pants, long sleeves; and closed-toe shoes are REQUIRED! *Be warned: No restroom facilities at or close to this site.

PARKING: Use the listed address for GPS - 3105 Winterfield Place, 28205 - the Garden is on the right directly across from Winterfield Elementary School. Park on the street in front of the Garden's main entrance, or in the school parking lot.
