Assist us with our FUN RUN through McDowell Nature Preserve! You may be giving out water or swag, assisting with educational aspects, or helping with check-in, etc. The event runs 8am-10am - Volunteers should plan to arrive by 7:30am for safety review and instructions. Please dress to be outside and wear good walking shoes suitable for the trail. Bring your own refillable water bottle.

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old for this event.Event will be cancelled in case of heavy rain or storms.

National Trails Day® is your chance to get outdoors, connect with your community, and give back to the trails you love! Join American Hiking in celebrating our shared passion for the outdoors while inspiring your community to leave the trails better than we found them. Together, we can make an impact, removing trash from McAlpine Creek Park! This service day is suitable for ages 10+ and can count towards required service hours for school/work.

Please wear long pants for protection from scratches and poison ivyClosed-toe shoes are REQUIRED, NO Crocs, sandals or flip-flops! Bring work gloves if you have them - gloves will also be available. Litter pickers and trash bags are provided. Bring your own water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray.

Join us on MONDAYS to explore a different location each month to connect with people and nature, while making a positive difference in Mecklenburg County's green spaces by removing litter! Volunteers will be equipped with litter pick-up sticks and/or gloves. Be aware that trash will be located off trail over uneven and muddy ground. We may walk a cumulative 1-2 miles over uneven terrains. Anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/ adult. Pre-registration is required, no walk-ups will be accepted!

Wear long pants and sleeves; closed-toe shoes are required! Dress appropriately for the weather; and bring a water bottle and snacks.
