Opportunities From: Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation

Join Project Captain Stephen James to show the Park some LOVE! Volunteers will be pulling up and cutting out invasive English Ivy, picking up litter and limbs, and completing whatever other care is needed! Bring your own work gloves, pruners and small shovels - extra tools will be provided.

Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (REQUIRED). Volunteers must be at least 10 years old; anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult/parent.

Park and meet at Freedom Park, at the address listed here. After turning into the Park from East Blvd, continue to the Stop sign, then turn LEFT and continue to the large parking lot on the right, just past the soccer fields. 

Below are a few tips and reminders for a SAFE & PRODUCTIVE Volunteer experience:

Wear long pants (and long sleeves, suggested) for protection from scratches and poison ivy. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes – REQUIRED, NO sandals, Crocs or flip-flops. Wear OLDER shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, wet or muddy. Bring your own heavy-duty work gloves – extras will be available; litter pickers and trash bags are provided. Wear a hat and sunscreen for protection from sun exposure; and your preferred bug spray, if needed. Bring your own water in a large, refillable water bottle; to stay hydrated, avoid the need to refill, and to protect the environment from single-use plastic bottles. A water cooler for refilling will be available.

Park and meet at William R. Davie Park, at the address listed here. After turning into the Park from Pineville-Matthews Road, continue STRAIGHT and follow the road to the parking area by the Conference Center.
